Sport Fishing by Boat in Cambutal

Fancy of eating freshly caught Tuna? Cambutal is famous for its fishing scenery.  A fishing video from Cambutal went viral some years back attracting loads of aficionados fishermen to town.

The local fishermen offer fishing trips for around $200 + tip. This may sound like a lot but you might actually catch more than $200 worth of fish.

These veteran fishermen are experienced and fine people. They know the waters and the best fishing spots in Cambutal. They are also well equipped with all the necessary tools, rods, and lures.

Throw some beers in the cooler, be sure to bring some sunblock, and, if you are lucky, you will get to see dolphins swimming around the boat. Depending on the season you might also see some whales too.

Visit The Beach Cave at La Cuchilla

Commonly known as La Cuchilla Cave, but also called the Devil’s Cave or Cueva del Diablo, this cave is a radical spot to go in Cambutal.

It is pretty easy to get there.

  1. Go to the beach break and walk to the left for about 45 minutes to an hour.
  2. At the end of this walk, you’ll see a huge rock formation blocking your way from walking any further.
  3. The cave is on the other side of those rocks which you can easily walk over.

Bring some food and drinks for a cool picnic as there is an astonishing beach area next to the cave.

IMPORTANT: Get there at low tide. Otherwise, you won’t be able to go inside the cave. Beware of the rising tide as it can block your way out of the cave.

You could go with a solid 4×4, but beware of the soft sand approaching the rock formation as it is quite loose.

Take a Surf Lesson at The Beach Break

Taking surf class is one of the most exciting things to do in Cambutal… if you are a beginner.

The beach break, located in front of Hotel Playa Cambutal, is an excellent spot for starters.

Sunset Happy Hour at Hotel Playa Cambutal

This is one of my favorite things to do in Cambutal. Sunsets are a show in themselves… especially during low tide.

At low tide, the perfectly leveled beach floor creates a running film of water reflecting the sky above. A stunning view for everyone around.

This is well accompanied by the Hotel Playa’s Happy hour at their beach bar every Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 6 pm. Perfect place to enjoy some drinks with friends and neighbors.

Coffee and Pastries at La Casita Café Cambutal

La Casita is a charming café located right in the heart of town. The owners are talented baristas and pastry chefs.

The menu has delicious frappes, a wide range of coffees like espresso and cappuccino, sweet treats like tasty cinnamon-rolls and mouth-watering lemon pies, and much more.

Going to La Casita Café is a must for anyone visiting Cambutal.

They are only open Thursday to Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm.
